2 Down, 2 To Go

Done two of my papers on the 16th November, Monday. They were Buyer Consumer Behavior, BCB and Derivatives and Securities Markets, DSM. BCB was at 9.00a.m. and it was seriously easier than I thought and hopefully, I can score in that subject. Then it was DSM at 6.30p.m. and it was tough. One thing good is unlike my previous semester papers, I have enough time to complete both the papers. Hopefully, I do not have to race against time for my both upcoming papers too.

As the DSM paper ends at 9.00p.m., I decided to stay in my friend's house and took a bus home. Now, I have to take a train to two stops before my destination and transfer to a bus because there were construction going on. Anyway, I took a direct bus home from the city around 9.35a.m. which took me around 45 minutes. And I manage to capture a spring scenery, less than 1km from my house. That's because the weather that day was around 20 degrees.

Note: Click the picture and click one more time to enlarge to it's maximum

However, the weather yesterday topped at 42.6 degrees around 4.00p.m. and I was lucky enough to be in the air conditioned library. I've been traveling to the library everyday to study and escape the heatwave. I wonder why is only Adelaide caught with the heatwave? I've checked other states like Melbourne or Brisbane and it weren't as bad as here.

As mentioned in my previous post, I've went through two house inspection for rent and within a week, both the houses were not available. I wonder where should I stay next year if this continues? Anyway, I should be more worried about the upcoming exams before this matter.

4 days till exam is over and 19 days till I'm back in Malaysia.

Post number 10

With the temperature marking between 25 to 39 degrees here in Adelaide, I was perspiring from head to toe. Even Malaysia's temperature topped at 37 degrees (I think). Seriously, from my head to toe and I wonder how people survive without fan or air-cond with the current condition. Anyhow, I barely manage to pass through few days like this until yesterday night. It was like hell for me with my whole body began to perspire even after taking shower 3 times a day!!!

Lastly, I could not tolerate any longer with the heat affecting my studies by burning my brain cells. I Google up for pedestal fan around Alberton and found a shop selling them for AUD $19.98 (the cheapest) within walking distance. Decided to walk there next morning. Upon reaching there, I demand for it from a sales girl but she said that it was sold out yesterday. My morale fall tremendously and I asked the store's catalogue. Found another fan which cost AUD $29.98 but it was out of stock too. Then, I demand for the cheapest fan or mini air conditioner and she showed me a AUD$39.95. I'm not going to waste my effort walking under 30++ degrees for 15 minutes and not purchasing anything.

And I gambled my way home because I lost the paper that used to point me the way to the shop.

Here it is

Within 5 minutes, it was assembled.

Moreover, the number of insects began to outnumber humans. Upon stepping out from my house, A few flies swarming around my face and it's really annoying. Of course, my bedroom too became nest for those creatures. Caught more than 5 insects for the past week. 3 spiders included and mind you, the spiders here are 3 times the size of spiders in Malaysia.

New food for the past week. Coles Marinated chicken+ bok choy + rice.

Alright, one more hour and I'll have to travel alone to Clarence Park for my new house's inspection. Hopefully everything is fine there.

Random

Nothing special or much happened for the past week. Nevertheless, exam is drawing nearer so does going back to Malaysia. Time to buckle up my studies and might be cramming in the university's library like the past semester before exam period.

Some random moments in the past week:
Went to uni's computer lab and printed all my notes on Sunday. Surprisingly, the lab is half full and I head to the library to revise lecture 1 to 3 for ICBM (International Currency & Banking Markets). From ground floor to level5, it was full with people and decided to head back to the computer lab.

I think we just skipped one week of spring last week. The temperature marks between 20 to 27 degrees. However, its back to normal now around 12 to 21 degrees. For me, the weather now best where it's not too cold or too hot.

Found this from a friend's blog

Back

Sorry for my long absence for the past week. The internet connection was down as we overused it again. For the first time, the upload rather than the download usage were exceeded.

Nothing much happened for the past week except that I've done almost all of my assessments for this semester. There will be one though tomorrow, BCB (Buyer Consumer Behavior) Test.

Take a look at my table when assignments were on

Some food for the past week
Fish and Chips (Fish Fingers and Frozen Fries)

Egg + Lettuce + Chicken + Rice = Satisfying hunger

Once again, I'm the only male student for DSM (Derivatives and Securities Markets) class for the past consecutive 3 weeks. Feels a little alienated.

Exam will be in 20 days time. Hopefully, I'll pass this semester without any failures. Many people said I've got thinner. Is it true? Let me know if you see me face to face in Malaysia.

Found this interesting in soompi forum.

YOUR AGE BY CHOCOLATE MATH:
Don't tell me your age; you'd probably lie anyway-
but the Hershey Man will know!

YOUR AGE BY CHOCOLATE MATH

It takes less than a minute . Work this out as you read .

1. First of all, pick the number of times a week that you
would like to have chocolate (more than once but less than 10)

2. Multiply this number by 2 (just to be bold)

3. Add 5

4. Multiply it by 50 -- I'll wait while you get the calculator

5. If you have already had your birthday this year add 1759 ..If you haven't, add 1758.

6.. Now subtract the four digit year that you were born.

You should have a three digit number.
The first digit of this was your original number.

(i.e., how many times you want to have chocolate each week).

The next two numbers are
YOUR AGE! (Oh YES, it is!!!!!)

THIS IS THE ONLY YEAR (2009) IT WILL EVER WORK,
SO SPREAD IT AROUND WHILE IT LASTS.

Mamak Night

Will be quite busy these few weeks till 28th October (my last assessment) and will be having cramming at home studying for finals in less than a month. Thus, will not be updating frequently.

Anyway, my housemates and I attended Mamak Night held in UniSA-City East campus. Had nasi lemak, tom yum, roti canai and teh tarik. Overall was a great night.

MoonCake Festival

I don't really remember much about how I used to celebrate the moon cake festival but I'll definitely remember this year's one. What's more, it's been ages since I last tasted moon cake because I don't fancy them until yesterday night out. I was invited by Suzanne Siah to Elder Park at 5.00pm with her friend. Little did I know, her friend were another 4 girls!!! They were all from University of Adelaide I guess and thus, my network of friends grew larger. Another that surprises me is that an architecture student needs to study for 6 years having and no final exams!!! Imagine studying applied finance for 6 years (12 semesters) and now I'm already struggling in my 4th semester.

The day began to dark

Thanks to Suzanne's friend for this moon cake that was shared between 6 people (Sorry I'm bad in remembering names in first time meeting)

Okay, I've been out everyday since coming back from Melbourne because it seems that I can't sit in the house the whole day!!!

Melbourne Trip

Sitting in front of my laptop feeling a little bored here after stucked in Financial Planning Group Assignment. Life these days had been just like a ferris wheel. It just rotates from sleeping to cooking to eating to watching drama.

Anyway, I just came back from Melbourne last week with a heavy unexpected cost fall upon me and my friends.

The journey started off with a little complications about the car and to cut the story short, we had no choice but to rent 2 cars. Starting the journey with smiles upon everyone's face, we came across Princess Highway along the coastal road. There is one area where it feels like we are driving in the safari as seen on the national geographic channel.

Quite nice place

Had the famous fish and chips - waiting for 30 minutes to get a table

Next day, journey throughout the Great Ocean Road. Along the way, our luck went down the drain with getting fine by traffic police for speeding. I thought we will be given a warning as this is the first time getting fined but the man took out his pen and began to jot down on a piece of paper the car details while questioning us. Then, the piece of paper was handed to us and a shocking amount of AUD $234 was on it.

The first stop on the way to visit the Tweleve Apostles

Nice scenery coming back

Next day, we walked arounf the city and had the best dinner specially thanks to Adam. The Thai food was amazing and mouth watering and he even brought us to Silicka beach to watch little penguins comes out at night time

Wee 6 and the past

Its been a while since I last wrote here. Without realizing it, its already week 6 in my fourth semester in UniSA program. Moreover, its already half a year since I arrived here and it's just 3 more months till this semester ends. With 7 of us in this house, the electric bill for just one month reached an incredibly huge amount, AUD438.50!!! In addition, we exceeded the internet usage a few days before the due date and that's when the assignments were due. Speaking of assignments, I had an extremely hectic schedule last week. It began with ICBM assignment on Monday, BCB Test on Wednesday, FP presentation on Thursday, FP Test and Assignment on Friday. Overall, I knew I did badly in ICBM assignment and BCB Test and hopefully, the others were alright. That's the reason I never updated this blog for a while.

Anyway, attended Sara's party at Mile End. I finally learned how to bake cupcakes. They were easy as ABC as long we follow the instructions.

Artistic work

The tradition - hard liquor. Realize that cheese don't go well with hard liquor. Had a small tummy ache after just 3 cups.

You guys probably wonder what I've been doing for my past time here. I've been watching lots of drama lately. This worsen my eyesight. Definitely have to wear my specs whenever I'm in the lecture hall or tutorial classes or I might be seeing blur images from a far.

It's really rare to post a picture of myself so here goes
Without specs

With specs

That's all I could remember. Probably there are many small things happened for the past few weeks that I have forgotten.

Anyway, came across Dorothy's post and finds it interesting. Check it out.

08/08/09

Week 2 in my fourth semester of UniSA had already ended. Homework began to pile up and my very first assignment for Buyer Consumer Behavior semester is due in week 4. I had a look at the question and lucky it was not really tough but I know I cannot take it lightly. This semester proves to be much tougher with more presentations and assignments ahead and hopefully I can manage them well.

Some dishes I frequently cooked these days.

By the way, my friends and I went to Glenelg beach on last weekend.
I tried fishing and played volleyball.
We were suppose to catch fish but we caught a baby crab.

Recall

I'm really sorry to dear readers or people who came across this page for my long absence. This is because I was too busy moving to a new accommodation and it takes 10 to 20 working days to set up the Internet connection. And yes, I've finally got my own room after 4 months living illegally in the living hall under my friend's house.

Got my 3rd semester result last 2 weeks ago and lucky I managed to passed all the four subjects especially IBPF (Investment Banking & Project Finance). Anyway, let the pictures to the talking and a little explanation along the way.

Would like to thank Suzanne and Stephanie for these delicious homemade dumplings

Parrot - Howl

First week of the semester has already begun and I've attended 2 lectures already. On the train to the city, I've noticed that Australians have the habit of reading where most of them were reading a book while waiting to reach their destination. Unlike Malaysians, I notice that we spent more time on our mobile phones texting.
